It is a great privilege to welcome a group of students from Southwestern Adventist University to lead us in worship today. These students have come to Lubbock with a very special mission on their hearts…to lift up the name of Jesus. It is exciting that they have been willing to invest their weekend in travel and ministry, and we are the beneficiaries.

Southwestern Adventist University is the institution of higher education operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Southwestern Union Conference. For more than 125 years there has been a school at Keene, Texas. This school has been a very important part of the growth and mission of the church here in the southwestern states, and also all around the world. We are grateful for, the continuing impact that this very special university makes on their students year after year. The Texico Conference is blessed to be able to employ quite a number of theology and education majors and we believe that the pastors and teachers who come from Southwestern are the very best available.

Today we will be blessed by a message from one of the letters of Paul to the Church at Corinth that will be shared by Jonathan Aguinaga, a senior Theology major. The passage that he will speak from reminds us of how committed this apostle was to his calling to take the good news of the gospel to the Gentiles. He is always careful to keep the focus completely on Jesus and His power to save everyone who comes to Him.

May this worship service and the sermon study empower each of us to be living ambassadors, ‘earthen vessels’ who have experienced the power of God in our lives and who are anxious to share it with others. May God bless you all.
