Part 2
Miracles can occur when there is fellowship. When the
Israelites were still slaves in Egypt God spoke to Moses
and said,
“I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt.
After that, he will let you go from here” (Exodus 11:1, NIV).
This plague was one that would visit everyone in that land
whether they were Egyptians or Israelites. Within the context
of this plague the Israelites were told there would be
a means by which they would receive redemption.
That redemption was only made possible by
faithful fellowship and the breaking of bread.
The scriptures tell that when they came together and had
the Passover meal they would be saved from this final
plague that was to fall on Egypt. As they fellowshipped and
broke bread together they were to contemplate their life’s
journey. As they spent time together and ate they talked
about the freedom they would shortly receive. As they
prayed together they praised God for the salvation they
received as the angel of death passed over their home.
Notice the words of Ellen White:
The Passover was to be both commemorative and typical,
not only pointing back to the deliverance from Egypt, but
forward to the greater deliverance which Christ was to
accomplish in freeing His people from the bondage of sin.
The sacrificial lamb represents “the Lamb of God,” in whom
is our only hope of salvation. Says the apostle, “Christ our
Passover is sacrificed for us.” 1 Corinthians 5:7. It was not
enough that the paschal lamb be slain; its blood must be
sprinkled upon the doorposts; so the merits of Christ’s blood
must be applied to the soul. We must believe, not only that
He died for the world, but that He died for us individually.
We must appropriate to ourselves the virtue of the atoning
sacrifice (The Story of Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 277).
The Passover was meant to point us to our Savior through
fellowship and the breaking of bread. A necessary part of
our Christian journey is the need for fellowship and the
breaking of bread together. In this time spent together we
are to contemplate life and the significance of our Savior.
We can journey through life alone or we can journey
through life with the support of others on the same path.
Are you ready to fellowship with other Christians
in this journey of life?
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Geraldo
