On Thursday, August 21, Mr. Derral Reeve, Education Superintendent from the Texico Conference, visited Lubbock Junior Academy. He was quickly directed to the Chromebook charging center. We have Mr. Dondie Ramos to thank for unpacking our 21 HP Chromebooks and for the design and installation of a unique Chromebook charging center.
Mr. Reeve taught the older students how to sign into their Chromebooks and how to change the wallpaper. He taught them how to use the touchpad. One finger touch for a right click and a two finger touch for a left click. The students enjoyed learning how to change the user icon. Some students chose an animal as their icon and others chose to use a picture of themselves.
Students also learned how to make a file in Google Docs. They learned how to create, to save, to share, and to delete a file. Mr. Reeve also explained how to save an image on the Internet and save it in a file.
Chromebooks are laptops running Chrome OS as their operating system. The devices are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and data residing “in the cloud”.
