The Chop-Chop Ladies, Dr. Simmons and Miss Zimmermann, are at it again. They brought a new soup recipe to school for the students to sample.
Occasionally on Fridays we bring or make a vegetarian dish. These dishes are vegetarian and/or vegan. We want the students to be fully involved with the NEWSTART program our church has been conducting.
Past recipes have included: apple salad, chili and date rolls. Each recipe must be simple and can be made by even our youngest students. The soup recipe we used is called, 6-Can Soup.
The recipe is as follows:
14 oz. vege-chicken-flavor broth
1 15 oz. can yellow or white corn
1 15 oz. can kidney beans (can substitute any other kind of bean)
1 19 oz. can minestrone soup
1 15 oz. can mixed vegetables
1 28 oz, can diced tomatoes
Pour all ingredients into a big pan, bring to boil and then simmer until heated through. This recipe will serve 11 – 13.
It was a big hit with the students. It’s a yummy way to get your veggies.
