Dear Family,

As we gather together in worship, let us
take a moment to reflect upon a profound
passage from the book of Joshua, specifically
Joshua 5:13-15. In this encounter, Joshua
poses a significant question to a mysterious
man: “Are you for us or against us?” The
man’s unexpected response, “Neither,”
carries a powerful message that resonates
with us even in our current politically charged times. It reminds
us that God’s ultimate purpose is not to take sides, but to save
humanity and prepare a heavenly home for all who accept Him
as their Savior.

In today’s world, it is easy for us to be consumed by the
divisions and polarizations that surround us. We are bombarded
with messages urging us to pick a side, align ourselves with a
particular party, or adopt specific worldviews. While it is our
right to engage in political discourse and make informed
decisions, we must remember that our primary allegiance lies
with God and His kingdom.

The response given by the man in Joshua 5:14 serves as a
profound reminder that God’s salvation is not limited to a
specific group or party. He does not align Himself with human
divisions but rather invites all who seek Him with a sincere
heart to be part of His redemptive plan. God’s love and grace
extend beyond the boundaries we create, embracing people
from all walks of life, regardless of their political affiliations,
worldviews, or the walls that separate them.

In our pursuit of unity and understanding, it is crucial to
recognize that God’s salvation is not contingent upon our
political leanings. He is not concerned with which side of the
wall we stand on, but with the condition of our hearts. Our
Lord is in the business of saving everyone who desires to be
with Him, irrespective of their political party, social status, or
personal beliefs. His love knows no boundaries, and His grace is
available to all who accept Him as their Savior.

As followers of Christ, we are called to embody His teachings
and demonstrate His love to the world. Our church community
should be a place where diversity is celebrated, and inclusivity is
practiced. Let us strive to create an environment where
individuals from all backgrounds feel welcome and valued,
where political differences do not hinder our unity, but rather
become an opportunity for respectful dialogue and
understanding.

In these challenging times, let us remember that our ultimate
home is not found here on earth, but in the heavenly mansion
prepared for us by our loving Father. Our time on this earth is
temporary, and it is our responsibility to live out our faith,
spreading the message of God’s unconditional love and salvation
to all those we encounter.

May we be guided by the wisdom found in Joshua 5:13-15, and
may our actions reflect the heart of our Savior. Let us unite in
love, embrace diversity, and strive for a deeper understanding
of one another, knowing that God is in the business of saving
everyone who seeks Him, regardless of the walls that divide us.

In Christ’s love,
Pastor Raul Alvarez
