Dear Church Family:
Last week’s Pastor’s Page was on 1.
Nominations. (If you haven’t already done so,
please don’t forget to fill out and return your
form – to the deacons at the door or to the
church office).
This week’s Pastor’s Page is on:
The February 5, LJA Gala Dinner for All To ENJOY.
It’s a fundraiser for Lubbock Junior Academy hosted by the Home
& School Committee, so, there’s a suggested donation to defray
costs and raise funds for the LJA Worthy Student fund. But it’s
meant to be fun:
The vegetarian menu will be delicious!
A Guest Speaker has been invited.
Entertainment will be provided.
Photo opportunities will be offered.
“Formal Dress” is welcome.
And since it’s a February event, the visuals will be around the
traditional February theme of Love.
However, let everyone feel included and let no one feel excluded,
as if this were a Valentine event only for married couples. The
theme is Love. God’s love. God’s Unconditional Love.
So, please feel free to just come by yourself if so be the case – or
if you so wish. Or bring your special friend, person, or group –
whoever they are. Everyone – single, married, big, small, girl, boy –
everyone is invited and welcome just as they are.
Many social and even Christian religious groups have spoken and
unspoken expectations and limits. But there are zero restrictions
in God’s love. And therefore, my dream is that there be none
here either, in His Lubbock Seventh-day Adventist Church,
whose only and unique trademark is the Gospel; with none
more important than the other. We’re all valued, invited and part
of it as is!
Behold what manner of love the Father has given onto us,
that we should be called the children of God!
1 John 3: 1
Gifts, eloquence, prophecy, understanding, knowledge, faith….
Now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 12 and 13: 1, 2, 13
Behold, let us love one another,
For love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of
God and knoweth God.
He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
So beloved, let us love one another.
1 John 4: 7 and 8
With Love,
Pastor Sam
PS: Hard to say, but please don’t feel excluded even if your funds
could not cover the donation for this event, or no one has invited
you. All human organizations have some financial needs and must
find ways to raise funds to operate. But
God’s love is unconditional,
no-strings-attached,
and completely free.
