It is from a heart overflowing with gratitude that I usurp this corner to acknowledge the teaching staff at Lubbock Junior Academy. I am sure you know, or perhaps you didn’t know, that our church is staffed and maintained by all volunteers. Lubbock Junior Academy is no exception. Our Principal is hired by the Texico Conference; however, Dr. Virginia Simmons volunteers her time. She is the only one (including students) who has had “Perfect Attendance” for the past three and one-half years! She has not missed a single day of school! Times that Miss Z has to miss school days to attend required Conference events and while Miss Z took Grades 5-8 to Washington DC for a week, Dr. Simmons “kept the home fires burning” all alone when no other volunteer was available. All she requires is someone to open the front door.

Miss Z has playfully referred to herself as the “chop-chop” lady by sharing healthful vegan recipes for sandwiches, etc. I think she would like the parents to pick up on the fun and provide more healthful lunches for her students.

Also, I am quite sure, if you have ever done anything for Miss Z or the school, you received a “Thank-You” note. I vote we rename her our “Lady of Gratitude”. She loves our students and she teaches with a joyful and grateful spirit.

Please join me in gratitude for this dedication. And thank God with me for the gift we have in the teachers that staff our church-school.

Lubbock Junior Academy is currently accepting registration for the 2013 Winter-Spring semester. We have adequate teaching staff to accommodate an additional seven students in grades 1 through 8 and we offer a very “safe” environment. Tell all your friends!
