One of the advantages of our school which practices the steps emphasized in the Mastery Learning Theory is that provisions are made for every student who accomplishes the basic academic requirements to move ahead to more challenging work.

Two of our students, Kaylee Jordan and Jacksen Pate, who have just completed their grade level reading requirements, are now experiencing that challenge. They have just begun work on an advance integrated unit. The unit includes activities to further increase their level of reading comprehension, writing skills, vocabulary, map work, etc., all based on the book, The Bronze Bow, by Elizabeth George Spear. Many of the activities are on the 9th grade level, so they are challenging, but do significantly increase achievement levels.
